Mina Masjid or the Heavenly Mosque was built by Shah was Jahan between 1631-40 near Diwan-i-Khas in Agra Fort. This small mosque was built, entirely of white marble, by the Mughal king Shah Jahan for his personal use.

History

This small mosque was built in white marble by Shah Jahan for the use of his own and his selected royal ladies. It is situated in the southwest of the Diwan-i-Khas and to the south of the Macchi Bhawan. Built in marble, it has a small open court (Sahn) in front of the three arched prayer Chamber. The court is paved with alternate squares of marble and Jasper slabs. The prayer chamber measures 6.71 m. by 3.96 m. The structure is plain and simple and secured on all sides by lofty walls, which indicate it was used by royal ladies.

It is enclosed and secured on all sides by high walls and, it appears that, Shah Jahan used this mosque during his imprisonment in the adjoining apartment of Musamman Burj, also called shah-burj, from 1658 to 1666 A.D.
